What is up everyone!! 👋🤠
Welcome back to another edition of Awaken Orange online!
This past week in class we talked about how we are all one big family through Jesus! We as believers are all brothers and sisters through God. We also talked about always including those around us and checking in on them frequently.
God’s love for us is so unique and so unlike anything we have ever experienced. With His love, we are welcomed and we are accepted for who we are. Because of that, we can now include and accept others for who they are!
God’s love is also true love. This love does not leave anyone out. We can rely on it, we can access it so easily because He gives it out so freely.
This week, I encourage you to find someone that you can include in something you are doing! We are a “walking display” of who God is. You never know exactly what it means to someone when you include them!
“We’re all sisters and brothers, so let’s love one another.”
1 John 4:7 NIV
Howdy everyone! 🤠
This past week in class we talked about God lighting up the darkness! We talked about how He is there with us and does not want to leave us there all alone.
Do you know what a flashlight does when you turn it on in a dark room? It lights it up right? It makes things brighter and darkness goes away! That is what Jesus is like. He is like a flashlight. He shines bright in areas of our life that seem dark and He causes them to shine bright! The really cool thing is, unlike real flashlights, Jesus’ battery never runs out! We can always rely on Him to shine and to shine through us when we call upon His name.
The point we really hit home with this past week was “When you feel like you’re in the dark, let Jesus be your light.”
Then the verse we talked about is from John 8:12!
“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness ...”
John 8:12 NLT
In the Bible, there is another verse that is very similar to this. It talks about Jesus being a light unto our paths and will light it up for us!
We talked about learning from Jesus to help grow His light in us, and we gave some examples that I would love to give you as well! You can read your Bible, pray, listen to worship music, talk with other people who love Him.
This week, I encourage you to try and do one of these things every day! You could start off really easy by maybe reading one chapter from the Bible. Or maybe listen to one worship song!
Jesus is the light of the world! I want you to remember that! He is always with us and always for us. He never will leave us or forsake us. He wants to show us God’s good way and how to live more like Him!
As you are going through your week this week, remember that whenever you feel like you’re in the dark, let Jesus be your light!!
Hey everyone! 🤠
Usually we are diving into Pastor Levi’s sermon, but we are going to be changing gears and talking about what we talked about in class the past week!
In class this last week we talked about Jesus fighting for us in our own lives. When we feel like the “mess” of our everyday life is at an all time high, we can go to Jesus and ask for His help and guidance!
When we feel like we don’t know what to do, what do we end up doing? It changes for everyone. With God, we can go straight to Him when we are feeling overwhelmed. It is very easy to forget that in the moment! Trust me, I have forgotten to do that many times! We talked about how when we pray, we don’t have to say a prayer that is full of big words and that goes on for 5 minutes. I want you to know, there is nothing wrong with those! If you like to pray that way, that is awesome!!
When we pray, we can make it as easy as we would with a friend of ours! It can be so simple because God knows our hearts and it pleases Him that we are wanting to talk to Him! He gets so excited when we talk to Him! It is because He loves us so much that He wants to spend time with us!
Guess what! When we spend time with Him, we actually grow! We learn more and more about Him! We learn how to do life like He wants us to!
This week, we are going to be talking about how we are to shine our lights that God has placed inside of us!
A challenge I have for you is this: spread joy to a friend this week!
You might be asking “how do I do that?”
Well, here are a few ideas! Call them and ask how their day was. Make something for them to show them that you are thinking of them. Pray for them!
As we’re finishing this up, remember that Jesus fights for us everyday! He is always on our side and is always listening to us!
“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear…”
Psalms 118:6 ESV
Hey everyone welcome back to Awaken Orange online!! 👋🤠
This past week Pastor Levi talked about realigning our focus and priorities on God! One of the verses he mentioned was Luke 17:3-10 and here it is!
So watch yourselves!
“If another believer sins, rebuke that person; then if there is repentance, forgive. Even if that person wrongs you seven times a day and each time turns again and asks forgiveness, you must forgive.”
The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.”
The Lord answered, “If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you!
“When a servant comes in from plowing or taking care of sheep, does his master say, ‘Come in and eat with me’? No, he says, ‘Prepare my meal, put on your apron, and serve me while I eat. Then you can eat later.’ And does the master thank the servant for doing what he was told to do? Of course not. In the same way, when you obey me you should say, ‘We are unworthy servants who have simply done our duty.’”
Luke 17:3-10 NLT
A thing I want us to key on today is where the apostles say “Show us how to increase our faith.”
What does it mean to increase our faith? Well, a phrase Pastor Levi brought up was “having pure faith.” According to Google, faith means “complete trust or confidence in someone or something.”
But what does it mean to have “pure faith?” Pure faith could look like this: having full and complete trust in God 100% of the time. Now that is something that is pretty hard to do. Even I have trouble at times having faith in Him 100% of the time! But when I do put my faith in God, I know that He will work all things out for the good.
This week I encourage you to sit down for a few minutes and ask God how to have pure faith!
Let’s pray!
“Dear Lord, thank you for today. Thank you that we can have pure faith in You and that You will truly fight with me and fight for me! I ask that You would show me this week how to have pure faith in You! Amen!”

Welcome back!! 👋🤠
We are back yet again with another Awaken Orange online! This past week Pastor Levi talked about joy! This verse was mentioned towards the end of the sermon, so let’s revisit it! This verse is from a book that you might have skipped over before.
“The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Pastor Levi mentioned that God isn’t trying to keep us from joy, yet what He is doing is wanting to bring us into the highest form of joy possible!
Did you know there is a difference between joy and happiness? Happiness usually ends and is very temporary. An example could be your parents told you that after dinner you are going to go to Wild Scoops and you can get WHATEVER you want! How would you feel? Happy, right? How about two weeks after that, would you still be happy from that one moment? Maybe, but that happiness probably isn’t the same.
Joy is something that truly lasts. God gives us the best joy! When we are with Him we feel joy! Joy is something that is pretty hard to get rid of. When you put God at the front of your life, you will start to grow in joy! Trust me!
God really wants to see us living in joy. He created us to be in His joy that He freely gives us.
Let’s close in prayer!
Dear God, thank you for today. Thank you that You want me to live in joy. Thank you that You are a fun person. Thank you that I can be filled with Your joy and show others how to access that joy! Amen!
Here are some questions I have for you!

What is going on!! 👋🤠
Pastor Levi talked about the shortest verse in the entire Bible on Sunday. Do you remember what it is?
It’s John 11:35! This verse is only two words long! Super easy to memorize!
“Jesus wept.”
This verse is super easy to pass by, but I think we tend to forget the importance of it! Even if it is only two words, I think it still is very powerful! Lazarus is one of Jesus’ friends, and when Jesus finds out that Lazarus has passed away, He cries. He weeps. When you weep, that usually means you are crying a lot. Jesus loved Lazarus so much and was so sad about him passing away.
Jesus loves to help. He is the Ultimate Helper! He wanted to help Lazarus by raising him from the dead. So, Jesus did just that! He told Lazarus to come out of that grave that he had been buried in. Guess what! Lazarus walked out of the grave alive again!
What is something in our life that we feel like Jesus needs to help us with? Maybe it is with our friendships, maybe it's something inside of us. Whatever it may be, Jesus wants to help us. He is so excited whenever we invite Him into our situations and let Him work inside us!
This week let’s focus on asking God to show us somewhere we want Him to help us in. If you don’t know how to do that, I can help you! Here is a prayer you could say: “Dear Lord, I ask you to show me where I need you to help me.” It is such a simple prayer! When we pray, we can pray as simply as possible! After you finish praying, I encourage you to just sit for a minute or two as quietly as possible and listen to see what He has to say! He could give you a picture, a thought, a feeling or even talk to you!
Let’s pray!
Dear Lord, we thank You for today. We thank You that You love us so much that You want to help us. I ask today that You be with me and that I would feel You in a new way. Thank you for weeping and being a God who truly cares about us. We love You and ask You to continue Your work in us. Amen!

Sometimes we forget how important our words are and how much they can affect someone else. For me, one time I was feeling down. I was in a time where I didn’t feel like myself, but one of my friends was definitely being used by The Lord because my friend then began to speak life into me. When I say “speak life” I mean they began to encourage me, tell me things that are true about myself. This was so simple, yet it was so good for my heart to hear!
Here’s the thing, God put us on Earth to point everyone to Him. When you use your words wisely, everyone around us has a better chance of feeling His love and knowing Him! When we leave today, we can remember the awesome responsibility and role we have to show everyone the love of Jesus through our powerful words - Zach
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.”
Let’s close in prayer!
Dear God, thank You so much that all of Your words are trustworthy and true. Help us show others what You’re like by saying words that build up and help the people around us. Help us say the words that we need to when we need to. And when we make mistakes with our words, please help us be quick to say, ‘I’m sorry. Will you forgive me?’ Thank You for loving us so much, God. We love You, too. Amen

Today’s Bible story is a big one so be ready! It is a parable from Jesus. A parable is a story that Jesus would often tell people that is a very simple story with a lesson inside it. Can you figure out what the lesson is in this one? There are a whopping 16 verses in this story, so hopefully you can find it! Good luck!!
- Zach
“Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey. The man who had received five bags of gold went at once and put his money to work and gained five bags more. So also, the one with two bags of gold gained two more. But the man who had received one bag went off, dug a hole in the ground and hid his master’s money. “After a long time the master of those servants returned and settled accounts with them. The man who had received five bags of gold brought the other five. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with five bags of gold. See, I have gained five more.’ 21 “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ “The man with two bags of gold also came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘you entrusted me with two bags of gold; see, I have gained two more.’ “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ “Then the man who had received one bag of gold came. ‘Master,’ he said, ‘I knew that you are a hard man, harvesting where you have not sown and gathering where you have not scattered seed. So I was afraid and went out and hid your gold in the ground. See, here is what belongs to you.’ “His master replied, ‘You wicked, lazy servant! So you knew that I harvest where I have not sown and gather where I have not scattered seed? Well then, you should have put my money on deposit with the bankers, so that when I returned I would have received it back with interest. So take the bag of gold from him and give it to the one who has ten bags. For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them. And throw that worthless servant outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”
Sometimes you just need to get creative with how you use what He’s given you. Maybe God has given you a talent, like you’re a good artist. How can you make the most of that talent? Maybe you could draw pictures to encourage someone in the hospital or a nursing home or your little sister if she’s sad.
God wants you to make the most of what He gives you. He wants you to make the most of your time. He wants you to make the most of your talents. And He wants us to make the most of our friendships. He wants you to make the most of what you’ve been given.
How do you think this parable applies to you?
Here are some questions I have for you!
How many servants did the master leave his wealth to?
What did Jesus want to teach us through the story? (Here’s a hint! He wants us to make the most of what we’ve been given!)

Let’s close in prayer
Dear God, thank You for giving us everything we need to live out the plan You have for us. When we face situations where we are left wanting more or for something different, help us cling to the truth that You take care of all our needs. Help us remember that each and every day we can show responsibility and make the most of what you’ve been given.

Happy almost New Year everyone!!! 👋🤠
Today’s Bible story focuses on the Shepherds and the sign that they saw that told them to go find Baby Jesus! How would you react if you were visited by an angel and told to go to a stable to see Baby Jesus? I personally would be shocked! I honestly wouldn’t know how to react!! Read this story and find out how the shepherds reacted!
“And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear. And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger. And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them. But Mary treasured up all these things, pondering them in her heart. And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them.”
Luke 2:8-20 ESV
God wants you to trust Him to lead you through difficult times. God sees what we can’t see. Because He sees more than you see, you can be sure that He will take care of you. When you put your trust in Him, you can experience God’s peace. Once you have that peace, you can bring that peace to others because
God’s peace is for everyone.
God’s peace is for everyone! When we ask God to come into our life, He brings His peace! His peace is unlike any other peace! When we feel it, we feel safe, happy and confident in who He is! Has there been a time lately where you felt His peace in your life??
A verse I want you to try and memorize this month is from Luke! Here it is!

Dec 6th Orange At Home
“In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town. And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.”
Today’s Bible story is going to focus on How He Loves us! This story you’re about to read is one of the most iconic Christmas stories! It talks about how Mary & Joseph had to leave town to go to their original home, but since everyone was returning home, there was nowhere for them to stay! So, in the most unlikely situations, they end up staying in an “Inn” which is basically a barn!
In the same way, in the most unexpected place at the most unexpected time, God poured out His love towards us. He sent His very own Son as a baby to rescue the whole world.
You may have heard the Christmas story a hundred times by now, but that doesn’t make it any less amazing because it was the most incredible thing that ever happened. Jesus is the ultimate example of God’s love for us, and that’s why we celebrate Christmas! God loved us so much that He gave us a Savior.
A verse I want you to try and memorize this month is from Luke! Here it is!

Today’s Bible story is going to focus on Jesus’ birth! It talks about what Jesus’ name means and that He is going to be a very important person!!
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Do you think it’s difficult to trust a person who breaks their promises over and over again? Why? The Israelites broke their promise to love and obey God over and over again. But God still kept His promise to never leave them. He sent good kings and prophets to help them and show them that He was still with them.
Today we heard how God promised over and over that He would send a Savior to rescue us from our sins!
He made lots of different promises about Jesus coming to rescue us years before Jesus was even born. God promised His people that He would send Jesus, and He did! That’s because God ALWAYS keeps His promises. Because God has kept His promises in the past, we know that He will keep His promises to us now and in the future.
We can have hope because God keeps His promises.
Now, that’s something to celebrate at Christmas!
We can trust God with anything and everything because He keeps the promises that He made! I encourage you to go through the Bible and find verses where He kept a promise! I’ll help you out! Try looking at Joshua 21:45, Jeremiah 1:12, Lamentations 2:17 and Ezekiel 12:28! Look at how many times God tells us that He keeps AND fulfills the promises He makes!!

Happy December Everyone!!! 👋🤠
I hope you all have had an amazing week! I am so excited to be back with you guys virtually!
This past week Pastor Levi spoke on generosity! Do you remember what we talked about last week? (If you don’t then scroll down and you’ll see it!)
We talked about how God LOVES a cheerful giver! I also wrote about different ways like talking to your best friend or helping your parents. Did you do those? If so, how did that make you feel??
This week we are finishing up talking about generosity. Since we are concluding, that doesn’t mean you still can’t be generous! I encourage you this week to do something SUPER generous for someone! This leads us into our verse for the week!
“Right now you have plenty and can help those in need. Later, they will have plenty and can share with you when you need it”
What does this verse mean? It means that we can give to others cheerfully because the Lord has already given things to us!
Can you think of a time where you were given something? Maybe a present? How did that make you feel? How do you think it made them feel when they saw your reaction?
Did you know that God is always working and that we get to simply join with Him? Isn’t that so cool? He wants us to love and by us being generous to others, we are acting in the love that God wants us to act in! I encourage you this week to ask Him who to bless! Especially now, blessing someone goes a long way and it really makes people smile and feel warm inside!
Here are some questions to answer on your own!
How can you be generous to someone this week?
Who is the most generous person you know?

Happy Thanksgiving week everyone! 👋🤠
This past week Pastor Levi spoke about being generous! When I say “generous” what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Here is what comes to my mind when I think of that word:
“God loves a cheerful giver”
I think of giving something to someone else!
Has there been a time in your life where you had something like maybe your favorite toy or even food and you might’ve given it to someone else to be nice? How did that make you feel? Did it make you feel good inside? Like warm inside? Did it remind you of when you eat a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie and you can feel the warmth going into your stomach?
This week, how can you bless someone? An idea could be calling your best friend and talking to them on the phone, or maybe helping out with your parents!
I encourage you this week to ask the Lord for a way that you can be generous to someone. I also encourage you to find your favorite Bible verse and ask the Lord to show you something new through it!
You might be thinking “how do I do that??” Well, here is what I do! I pray and simply say “Lord, who do you want me to be generous to this week?” And whoever is the first name that comes either to your mind or your heart, that is probably the person! It is that simple! Prayer does not have to be 1,000 words, it can be just a sentence and God listens!! With the Bible verse, you can open to it in your Bible and ask the Lord “Jesus, show me something new about this verse!”
If you need some suggestions on verses to look up, here are some of my favorites!
Romans 1:16
Psalms 23
Ephesians 1:4-5
John 3:16
With Thanksgiving being this week, I am very thankful for YOU! I know we haven’t done much in person since I have been here, but I still have very much enjoyed having our teachings online!
Do you want to know of some other things I am thankful for?
1: I am thankful for Jesus! I am thankful that He died on the cross for me and YOU!
2: I am thankful that we are fully known by God!
3: I am thankful for my family!
4: I am thankful for my amazing friends here in Alaska!
5: I am thankful for the snow!
What are YOU thankful for??

Parents, welcome back! We are going to continue our curriculum online and we have another teaching segment from our Awaken Orange leader Zach!
What’s going on guys! It’s Zach again! 👋🤠
Today we are going to be reviewing what Pastor Levi talked about this past week! He talked about Esther! Esther as you may remember was very faithful in her relationship with God!
“…for such a time as this [and for this very purpose]…”
What does it mean to have a faithful relationship with God in 2020 while knowing we are created for this time?
Well, here are some thoughts and ways that help me personally that I would love for you to hear:
I try to pray whenever I can. You may say “what do I pray?” or “well Zach, I don’t have time!” Guess what! Prayer is a simple way to talk to God directly just like how we talk to our friends! There is no such thing as a “perfect prayer” so whatever you pray is awesome! If you are thinking “Zach, I don’t know how to start” here’s another cheat I can give you. Simply start by saying “dear God, thank you for today, thank you for who You are and what You have done for me. I want to pray for ______.”
I also listen to worship or uplifting music so that I can talk to God through singing and open my heart to what He is wanting for me!
Having a faithful relationship is full of rewards and adventures! It is hard at times, but guess what it is always worth it!! God loves us so much that He sent His only Son to die on the cross for us, isn’t that so cool!?
Finally, remember as the Bible verse says, “you were born for such a time as this.” God has a plan for your life, He’s always there for us, He always is ready to talk to us and He is ALWAYS listening to us!!
I have three questions for you to answer, remember there is no wrong answer and this is FAR from a test!
Who do you pray for the most?
Mine are my friends!
What is your favorite worship song?
Currently, I love “My Soul Sings” by Maverick City Music
What is your favorite thing to eat on Thanksgiving?
Mine is my dads deep fried turkey!! It’s SO good!! Your taste buds feel like they are having a party when you eat the turkey!

We also have another brief teaching segment you can either read to your child or they can read it themselves!
Good morning everyone, welcome back to Awaken Orange at Home! It’s Zach again! 👋🤠
Last week Pastor Levi spoke about TRUST! He spoke about trusting God during hard times, times where we might feel like giving up. He used Hebrews 12:1 as one of the verses.
““Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us””
What does this verse mean exactly? It means that we can go to God and give Him the stuff that makes us sad, mad or confused. God wants us to live where we FULLY trust Him in everything! God is always on our side! He wants to help us when we feel those emotions and don’t know what to do! Isn’t that so awesome!?
I have three questions for you to answer, remember there is no wrong answer and this is FAR from a test!
1: What does the word “TRUST” mean to you?
2: How can we live a life where we trust God?
3: On a scale of 1-5, how happy are you that it snowed?
1 = not that happy.
2 = I like it, but I wish it didn’t snow.
3 = it’s cool!
4 = I love it!
5 = I barely can stay inside for how much I love it!
Finally, here are two songs you can worship to this week!

Parents, we’ve created a note page for your kids to follow along with Pastor Levi’s sermon! I encourage you to walk through it with your kids! I know this part might be a little tough, but if they bring back their note page to the next class, they will get a reward!
The questions hopefully will spark conversation between you and your child about the sermon!
Feel free to have your child read the below information from our Orange leader Zach or pass it along to them in your own words.
Church right now is different than normal isn’t it? While we might not be together at the church, we can still learn about God and how awesome He is! Today during Pastor Levi’s sermon, I encourage you to follow along with this paper that I have attached! There are four questions and guess what! There is no wrong answer and this is far from a test!
Taking notes actually helps us remember things! Isn’t that crazy!? This may be new to you, but trust me, it is fun to take notes :) I even added an area where you can draw if you’d like!
Finally, I have two Bible verses I’d love for you to read!
Hebrews 10:18 MSG “Once sins are taken care of for good, there’s no longer any need to offer sacrifices to them”
1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV “Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever!”
Don’t worry, when we come back together we will have an absolute blast! We miss you so much and are counting down the days till we are together again!!

Here’s a video that you can worship along with! It might be a little unfamiliar to you, but trust me, it is a great song!
