The Christmas season can be a great time to reflect on all we’ve been given during the year and to consider how we can be generous to others. This year, Awaken is facilitating a few opportunities for you to give, both locally and globally. We know God puts different needs on different people’s hearts, so please be praying about how God is asking you to give this season.

One option is to donate items to the Community Pregnancy Center. Specifically, they are looking for diapers (newborn, size 3, size 4, size 5, size 6), pull-ups (sizes 2T-3T, 3T-4T, and 4T-5T), wet wipes, and used highchairs or new carseats (Evenflo Nurture or Evenflo Tribute; they cannot give out used carseats). We’ll have a Pack ‘n Play set up in the Gathering Room where you can place those items.

Another option is to support the ministry of Alaska Correctional Ministries in Alaska. Items they need include new or gently used winter coats, pants, shirts, socks and shoes for men or women (to be used upon their release), as well as journals (without spiral or metal binding). You can donate those items in the basket in the Gathering Room.

Lastly, we are trying to help a family in Nigeria (the family of Sylvanus, from our church body) start a business as a way to support themselves in a very challenging economy. We have a few options to pursue with them, depending on how much we can raise. Options include a chicken farm, a repair shop, and more. If you’d like to donate to this cause, you can make a donation here on our website under the Donate tab, and just put “Nigeria” in the designation.
